Undergraduate Student Involvement
Involving undergraduates in NSF/SRC Engineering Research Center research is an excellent way to attract new
talent to the Center and to the semiconductor industry. In addition to working closely with faculty and graduate students on day-to-day
details of individual projects, undergraduate students have been integrally involved in
research presentations to Center reviewers and numerous professional groups, as
well as involvement with Center publications.

Graduate Student Involvement
The Center has trained a significant number of graduate students in
semiconductor related fields. The graduate students are
also active in making research presentations and publications to Center reviewers and
professional groups. The Center offers a unique interdisciplinary,
industry-focused educational opportunity for its students.
Enhancement of University Engineering Curricula
The Center has developed three new interdisciplinary
courses: Microelectronics Manufacturing and the Environment (MME), Advanced
Topics in Microelectronics Manufacturing and Environmentally Benign
Design of Chemical Processes. The MME class has been offered via distance learning
through University of Arizona's Extended University and NTU, and materials from the
MME class have been included in 25 different university courses taught at Center
member universities on microelectronics and chemical engineering, thin films processing, semiconductor
manufacturing, semiconductor materials, thermodynamics and chemical reaction
engineering, as well as being beta-tested at 33 other universities.
